Crochet Rose Flower with Leaves Pattern (Beginner-Friendly)

Materials

• 4-ply acrylic yarn in red/pink / yellow for the rose
• 4-ply green yarn for leaves
• Crochet hook: 2.0 mm–3.0 mm (for beginners) or 1.1 mm for tighter petals
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

 Rose Petals

1. Start:
   Make a slip knot and chain 3.
2. Row 1:
   
   • Work 1 double crochet (dc) into the 3rd chain from hook.
   • Ch 3, 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook → repeat until you have 10 small semi-circles (each formed by ch-3 + dc).
   • Fasten off 
3. Row 2:
   
   • Turn work so that the curved side is on top.
   • Ch 3 
   • Into the middle hole of the first semi-circle, work 6 dc.
   • In next  hole, make 1 single crochet (sc) to anchor the petal.
   • Repeat 6 dc in middle hole, 1 sc in next hole until you have 8 petals (leave last 2 semi-circles for leaves).
   • Fasten off red/pink yarn

1. Attach green yarn to the middle hole of the first unused semi-circle.
2. Ch 4 (counts as 1 triple crochet).
3. Work 2 more triple crochet (tr) into the same hole (total 3 tr).
4. Picot stitch: Ch 3, insert hook into first ch made, slip stitch to form small point.
5. Work 3 more tr into the same hole.
6. Ch 4, slip stitch into the same hole to complete first leaf.

Second leaf:

• Slip stitch into middle hole of the second unused semi-circle.
• Repeat steps 2–6.
• Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly

1. Take the strip of petals and roll it tightly for the first 2–3 petals (forming center).
2. Continue rolling loosely for the rest, arranging petals naturally.
3. Position leaves at the base.
4. Using yarn needle and matching yarn, sew from the bottom through the layers to secure shape.
5. Weave in all ends and trim.

This rose can be sewn onto sweaters, hats, bags, garlands, wall hangings, or used in bouquet arrangements.
